Bridge to the Future

APCH's Bridge to the Future (BTF) program transitions our teen members from adolescence into successful and healthy adults. The components of this program include:

  • Internships-offer clerical, technological & service work experience at APCH as prep for outside employment.
  • Mentoring-matches a caring adult with youth for 9 months offering social & life skill guidance. Our corporate programs include partnerships with HBO, Warner Bros. and Shout! Factory.
  • Guidance Counseling-helps teens with career and college choices by providing preparation tools, assessments and one-on-one as well as group guidance. Also includes college and career tours.
  • Scholarships-provides assistance in finding and securing funding for college. Currently, through the David & Linda Shaheen Foundation & College Access we have over 50 youth in colleges across the country.
  • Multicultural & Youth Leadership-exposes youth to the multi-cultural community of Los Angeles and abroad while teaching youth how to be better leaders through advocacy. In 2007, two kids had a life changing experience in when they were provided the opportunity to go to Sierrea Leone, Africa and help build classrooms for kids in a diamond mining community.
  • Teen Adventures-captures the attention of teens that are "slipping through the cracks" by engaging them in social learning outlets. Inclusive are digital technology (film, web design); field trips & teen nights (focus on teens only).

Each component is specifically designed to help bridge our teens to attainable goals in their future while keeping them away from the negative influences of gangs and the streets.
