By now you may have heard of our Journey boys. #Journey is a rites of passage program for our 14-18 year old boys that allows them to build brotherhood and true, lasting relationships with one other. On Wednesday, #APCH's Journey Culmination was a heart-felt and emotional celebration of the incredible bonds these young men have built and the goals that they have worked so hard to achieve. We celebrated the laying of their foundation for their path to manhood. Most of them will be heading off to college, some will be embarking on a path towards their dream career. We are so very proud of each and every one of them for their passion and commitment to excel and rise above their circumstances. "It's not the destination... it's the Journey." #Congratulations #JourneyCulmination #Preparingfortomorrow #BreakingCycles #BreakingStereotypes #SouthLA #TheFutureisYours

On Friday, May 5th we held our annual GirlPower Awards Luncheon at the Skirball Cultural Center. The event, hosted by the amazing Liz Hernandez of Access Hollywood, truly lived up to its name and was filled with #girlpower - the connections made were definitely powerful! We honored four amazing women this year. Kiesha Nix, Executive Director of the LA Lakers Youth Foundation, was presented with the Community Leadership Award. Rita Tuzon, EVP and General Counsel at Fox Networks Group was honored with the Integrity in Leadership Award. Cecilia Peck, Emmy-nominated filmmaker, director and producer, was honored with the Courage in Storytelling Award. Netflix Originals Marketing Manager, Jennifer Weg and the Women of Soap Box, were honored with the Women Leading the Way Award. The day connected all of us to the mission of the programs at APCH and reminded us that with hard work and dedication, together we can overcome social stereotypes and gender roles and create new avenues for young women to thrive. Thank you to everyone that made this day a success and came out to support the young people of A Place Called Home. Together we rise! #2017GirlPowerAwards Photography © Chasing Pleasures
